Bringing Home Your Puppy
Bringing home a new puppy, whether its your first or twelfth is something to take seriously, and it is important that you do your research ahead of time to set you both up for success. Puppies are impressionable sponges that require time, patience and love to thrive. They are learning about the world through their mouths and little bodies and can be very loud! Training is lifelong and starts with us in the whelping box. We use the Puppy Culture program on our litters, which you can read more about here. From an early age, we begin exposing puppies to numerous new things in a positive and fun way, building their confidence. We begin the basics of toilet training, crate training, exposure to grooming and recall. Puppies live with us in our home and are exposed to everyday life.
We prefer to match puppies to their owners and are open to input about preferences. Our goal is to make the best match between puppy and owner and ensure the start to a lifelong friendship. We reserve the right to carefully choose the homes we think will provide the best possible outcome for our puppies. We do not discriminate based on age, race or identity. All Aaweys puppies are sent home between 8-10 weeks. Puppies will have ears set with glue and tape to give them the best chance of a correct Collie ear set. While with us, they will have a vet check, their first set of shots, be microchipped and receive an eye exam by a canine ophthalmologist. We stand by every puppy we produce and are here to support our dogs and their owners for the duration of their lives. We welcome updates of all kinds.
We loved them first, we love them always
While we are always open to chat about anything related to our dogs, we have found this well rounded collection of resources to help our owners with all things puppy.
