-Should I get a Collie?
-With 187 current breeds in the CKC as well as other registries, there are countless options for people looking for a great companion. As much as we all love the majestic coat and elegant head of our breed, we encourage all buyers to look beyond the outside appearance. Your lifestyle should help inform you of what kind of dog may be a good fit for you. Purebreds have been bred for generations to look and ACT a certain way, training is only part of the puzzle. Collies are in general active companions on the medium to high energy scale. They love people and want to be near you and work with you. They are intelligent and like training but can be sensitive. They work well with positive reinforcement. Most Collies make great family pets and love dabbling in sports. They tend to love other dogs and can be loud both with alert barking as well as in play. Collies fit our lifestyle perfectly but they may not fit yours, and that’s ok! We are happy to chat about our dogs in particular and if they may be a good match for your lifestyle. At this time, we do not feel knowledgeable enough to place service dogs.
-What are all those letters around the dogs names?
-Dogs can 'prove' themselves through competitions and if they pass they earn titles which are shortened to letters around a dog's name. Much like a university degree would add letters to your name, dogs can train and trial their entire lives for some very lofty and hard to obtain titles. Kamek is titled in Conformation, Rally, Obedience, Agility, Scent, Barnhunt, Trick Titles, CARO Working, Coursing and Sprinters.
-What if I do/don't want to show or compete?
-While we wish all our families would try the fun and bonding involved in training and trialing in sports, we get that it isn't everyones and every dogs cup of tea. In every litter there should be a spectrum of puppies, some will be showing all the signs of wanting to get into sports and competitions, others would rather not. We want to make the very best matches between owner and puppy, let us know what you are looking for and we can do our best to give you the right puppy or help you find another breeder who can.
-Will you take a puppy back for _____ reason?
-We will always take any dog we produce back. As per our contract, all buyers are required to return a dog back to us if they can't continue to care for them.
